Mind your damn bid'ness

I hate hate HATE when people stare at Kendra. Why is it that a child in a wheelchair, or a child wearing a helmet or a kiddo with Downs gets "sympathy" looks? Don't get me wrong, I imagine that the parent/s of those kiddos would be angry (I would! I'd probably blow up and say "Thanks, but no thanks for your PITY! Stop staring at my KID!")

Instead, we get the "what's wrong with that perfectly beautiful, "normal-looking" child? Why doesn't that young mom have her kid "under control"? And so on and so forth... and that's another thing! I'm not as young as I look!!!! I'm 28 years old but I get the "oh that poor stupid teenage mother! She must be a bad mom and such a drain on society!"

I want to design a t-shirt that reads:

"Dear General Public,

Special needs does not have a face - STOP staring at my kid just because she looks "normal".

Sincerely,

Fed-up with Ignorance"

I also want to hand out business cards with a definition/description of Sensory Processing Disorder. I can't wait until it's officially in the next edition of the DSM (and labeled as a developmental disorder to help with insurance claims, etc).
